Medications that Can be Used During Pregnancy

Headeache or Pain

Nausea

Tylenol or Extra Strength Tylenol
DO NOT USE: Aspirin, Motrin, Advil (Ibuprofen), Aleve (unless specifically told to by your healthcare provider)
Try small frequent meals.
Ginger Ale, Vitamin B6, Sea Bands, Emetrol
Sweet fruit syrup from canned fruits (i.e. pears/peaches)

Cold Sore

Heartburn, Indigestion, Gas

Abreva Tums, Rolaids, Gas-X, Tagamet, Mylanta (safe to use for first 12 weeks), Zantac
DO NOT USE:  Pepto-Bismol

Congestion

Cough/Colds

Sudafed, Robitussin CF, Tavist D, Vicks Vapo Rub, Claritin or Claritin D, Zyrtec, Ocean Mist nasal spray Robitussin, cough drops

Insomnia

Yeast Infections

Tylenol PM, Benadryl (for occasional use only) 3 to 7 day antifungal - Monistat, Femstat

Hemorrhoids

Toothache

Preparation H, Tucks, Anusol Orajel, Novacaine, Dental X-ray with lead shield

Diarrhea

Constipation

Imodium (1 dose - notify office if persists)
BRAT Diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast)

Fiber supplements - FiberCon, Fiber Choice, Citrucel, Metamucil, Fiberall, All Bran or Fiber One Cereal

Stool softeners - Colace or Surfak

Itching

Acne

Benadryl tablets or cream Benzoyle Peroxide (Clearasil) or Salicylic acid products

Lice Treatments

Sore Throat

Rid
