Appointments
Routine appointments are generally scheduled a number of weeks in advance. Urgent needs are met within a day or two, and true emergencies are seen immediately. If an urgent or emergency visit is necessary, you may be seen by someone other than your usual health care provider. Our offices are handicapped accessible with parking at the door.
At your first appointment we will review your complete medical history and perform a complete examination. For a first pregnancy visit, this will also involve a discussion of many pregnancy-related issues. We encourage the presence of the baby's father at these and all prenatal visits, and the presence of other children at subsequent, but not at the first, somewhat long, prenatal visit. We strongly encourage the presence of the husband at infertility consultations, and of at least one family member at pre-operative consultations. A chaperone is available on request for all exams. Although we work very hard at running on time, an OB/GYN practice is full of urgent and emergency problems, and even though we leave time in our schedules to accommodate such problems, we will sometimes be unavoidably late. We try as best we can to minimize such lateness. In return, we ask our patients to be prompt and to have the courtesy to cancel appointments whenever possible with at least 24 hours notice. We reserve the right to charge for missed appointments without 24 hours notice.
Telephone Calls
Your telephone call is important to us. Our staff will handle all calls for appointments, and will refer all calls about fees and payments to our Billing Office. Calls involving more minor problems will be handled by our Registered Nurses and by other staff members who are trained to deal with these issues. Requests for prescriptions and refills will be brought to the doctors or the nurse practitioner by one of our staff. If your call requires an answer by your physician, it will usually be in the form of a return call to you. Please leave phone numbers where you can be reached that day.For truly urgent problems, the doctor will be available at any time. After office hours, there should always be an answer at one of our numbers, 225-1580 (Greece Office) or 671-6790 (Webster Office), as the answering service will contact the doctor on call. If for some reason you are unable to contact our office, our after-hours answering service may be reached directly at 723-6516.
